Tiger face Phase 3 Rock Garden

The Rock Garden has received the Safaigiri 2015 award for cleanest park in India. The India Today-sponsored award was presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Chandigarh Union Territory Advisor to the Administrator Mr Vijay Kumar Dev in a ceremony at the Hotel Taj Palace in Delhi on October 2nd.

'This award is dedicated to citizens of Chandigarh,' Mr Dev, the most powerful official in the city's administration, was quoted as saying by local media.

The Chandigarh Administration welcomes Nek Chand Foundation international volunteer groups to stay and work at the Rock Garden, said Home Secretary, Mr Anurag Agarwal.

Mr Agarwal was speaking in his office at the Chandigarh Union Territory Secretariat to visiting NCF trustee, John Francis Cross, in a brief meeting, August 4th 2015.

The Administration would also like to include the NCF in discussions about the future of the Rock Garden, the Home Secretary said.

A prayer meeting for all religions to remember and pay homage to Nek Chand is to be held at Phase 3 of the Rock Garden, Chandigarh on Sunday 21st June.

Hindu, Sikh, Muslim and Christian prayers will be offered, followed by a community kitchen.

The Nek Chand Foundation will be represented by founder John Maizels.

It is with great sadness that the Nek Chand Foundation announces news of the death of Nek Chand in Chandigarh yesterday.  Our condolences go to his family.

Nek Chand was aged ninety and his health had been in decline over recent months.  He died of cardiac arrest at PGI hospital in the very early hours of the morning of Friday June 12th 2015.
